Well that’s a wrap on this years’ Older People’s Festival (OPF), what a huge success and fantastic programme of events for all who attended.
The 2-week festival is inspired by the UN’s International Older People’s Day (1st October) and is run by Impact Initiatives. We were so proud to partner with such an important event and it was wonderful to see the impact of those who visit The Hop 50+ community café in Hove.
In only its second year, the OPF promises to be a regular fixture for Brighton and Hove for a long time to come!
Our friendly team were on hand at The Hop 50+, helping everyone to search for properties online through Rightmove and Zoopla, plus hosting private one-to-one consultations with our experts who looked at the potential savings available.
“I had a great time meeting people at the Hop 50+. It’s always a pleasure to meet people face to face, finding out about people’s individual situations and seeing if there’s any way we can help – it’s a very rewarding part of the job. The festival was a fantastic opportunity to meet some of the community, as well as help prospective property buyers find their dream home.” Rhonda Wilkins, Homewise Senior Consultant
Our Senior Consultants regularly meet those looking to move home during their travels across the UK and, while we actively support community events throughout the year, it was wonderful for team members from various departments at Homewise to chat to locals looking for property help.
We even bumped in to a current Homewise customer, Shelia, who took out a plan with us 15 years ago! She came along to visit our drop-in property helpdesk with her partner Tony.
We had a great time getting involved with the community spirit at The Hop 50+, whether they were holding an art class, hosting a photographic exhibition or a talent show. It was a privilege to see what activities they offer the older generation in the local community.
“Once again it has been great to work with Homewise, they have supported the Festival and have been very welcome at the Hop 50+ where people have been getting advice on how to move home and raise money to enjoy their retirement with. Many are on small pensions and Homewise have helped to take the worry out of paying bills whilst being able to choose where to live.” Caroline Ridley, Older People’s Festival Director
