On 7th October 2015, the team at Homewise cycled 1,000 miles in one day in aid of St. Barnabas House Hospice, raising an incredible £11,702 in the process.
The original target was 551 miles, the distance between Berwick Upon Tweed and Land’s End, the two furthest points in England. But when the team reached Bristol by breakfast and Berwick by lunch, they made the decision to cycle on!
We achieved 1000 miles in one day and continue to raise funds for this wonderful cause! You can support St Barnabas Hospice too, visit their website to find out more.
St. Barnabas House provides palliative care for adults approaching the end of their lives. This end of life care is aimed at alleviating distressing symptoms associated with serious illness, as well as providing specialist emotional support for families and carers throughout the illness and into bereavement.
Worthing-based company Homewise specialise in lifetime lease plans for the over 60s, and has had a close association with St. Barnabas House for the past two years. Mark Neal, Managing Director of Homewise, said:
“Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone who has sponsored us so far. To put it into perspective, it takes £16,000 to run the hospice for just one day. St. Barnabas House provides such a fantastic service for so many people, and it’s an honour for us to support them.”
