It’s that exciting time of year again, the Older People’s Festival (OPF) is back in town. The Brighton & Hove festival will run for two weeks across the city from 25th September – 8th October 2017, come along and try new things!
With activities to “inspire, excite and motivate”, the Older People’s Festival is a chance to discover new opportunities and learn new skills.
In 2016, the festival launched and hosted 65 events, in 29 venues with over 2,500 older people attending, many trying something for the first time.
They’re back again with the aim to celebrate the achievements and contributions of older people, and tackle outdated stereotypes and attitudes. Following on from last years’ success, this year’s theme is Stepping into the Future: Tapping the Talents - Contributions and Participation of Older Persons in Society.
Celebrations and events run across the city beginning Monday 25th September, from the popular fair at the Open Market fair to digital workshops and drumming circles, there’s sure to be something for everyone.
Run by Impact Initiatives, the festival’s events will “bring people together to try something new, meet others and participate in city life.” The hope is that this will “lead to many being active for longer and create some great memories and sparks of inspiration”.
Impact Initiatives “support people of all ages to live healthy and fulfilling lives”. The organisation was established over 35 years ago and aims to “give individuals and communities the support they need to improve their quality of life and feel a part of a wider community.”
